Hai (Ray) Miao, Ph.D. joined atai Life Science in 2021.  

Previously Dr. Miao was Director of Pharmaceutical Development at Frequency Therapeutics where he was responsible for the strategy and product development of several clinical-stage compounds.     

Prior to that, he held several positions with increasing responsibilities in the pharmaceutical industry: Director of Analytical Development at Proteostasis Therapeutics, Associate Director of Analytical Development at Akebia Therapeutics, and Senior Scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. Dr. Miao has over 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical development and has contributed to several marketed products, including Kalydeco®, Orkambi®, Symdeko®, and Vafseo®. 

Dr. Miao holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Peking University, China, and a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Delaware.  He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
